Best of Alameda 2025: Results, New Websites, and What's Next
We did it, Alameda! The first-ever Best of Alameda community vote is in the books, and the results are in.
Over the course of just three weeks, More than 1000 Alamedans cast a combined 29,695 votes across 129 categories — from Best Coffee Shop to Best Pizza to Best Parking Spot. That’s hundreds of people showing up to champion the local spots they love. Not bad for our very first go at this.
Thank you to every single person who voted, shared the link, and rallied their neighbors. You made this happen.

Introducing alameda.best
Along with the vote, we’re launching alameda.best — a dedicated website for discovering the best businesses in Alameda.
It’s a community-powered business directory where you can:
- Browse businesses by category — restaurants, shops, services, and more
- See vote results and award history — know which spots your neighbors love
- Find addresses, phone numbers, and websites — all in one place
- Explore on a map — see what’s near you
We’re building this to be the go-to place for answering the question that gets asked in our Facebook group every single day: “What’s the best _____ in Alameda?”
Business Owners: Claim Your Listing
If you own or manage a local business, you’ll soon be able to claim your listing on alameda.best. This will let you update your business information, respond to the community, and make sure your details are accurate. We’ll announce when claims go live — stay tuned.
Introducing alameda.city
We’re also launching alameda.city — a curated directory of Alameda community resources, government services, and local organizations.
If you’ve been in Alameda Peeps for a while, you might remember the “Who to Call Instead of 911” poster that we put together during the COVID era. It was one of those things born out of a real community need — people wanted to know where to turn for non-emergency situations, mental health crises, noise complaints, and other issues where calling 911 wasn’t the right move.
That poster got shared thousands of times and became a genuine resource for people. alameda.city is the spiritual successor to that idea — a comprehensive, always-up-to-date collection of links and resources for living in Alameda. Government offices, community organizations, emergency services, local media, schools, and more — all organized and easy to find.
A Family of Websites
These new sites join alamedapeeps.com as part of a growing family of community websites:
- alamedapeeps.com — Our home base. The blog, community news, and the hub that ties everything together.
- alameda.best — Business directory and Best of Alameda vote results. Find and support local businesses.
- alameda.city — Community resources, government links, and local organizations. Your guide to Alameda.
All three are built by me, to be completely free resources, for our community to use.
More Votes Coming
The Best of Alameda 2025 was our first vote, but it won’t be our last. We’re planning to run more community votes throughout the year — including smaller, more focused votes on specific topics. Think best seasonal or holiday picks.
If you have ideas for what we should vote on next, let us know in the Facebook group.
Thank You
None of this works without the community. Fifteen years in, Alameda Peeps continues to be one of the most engaged and generous community groups anywhere. Every vote, every share, every recommendation in the group — it all adds up.
Here’s to the next vote. Here’s to supporting local. Here’s to Alameda.
— Zac
